WHO WE ARE

Crocheting for a Cause

Make Plarn | Crochet Bags | Save Turtles

How it started…

During the pandemic we all looked for things to keep our minds off the madness…and mine went to crochet!

So we read blogs, looked at tutorials, and “bam” (for me) the plarn bug had hit.

And why not share the joy of creating something out of plastic grocery bags instead of sending them to the landfills. Then do it for a good cause on top of it!

Welcome to Let’s Make Plarn, a mini movement created to share the joy of creating something from upcycled materials and donating it to raise funds for sea turtle conservation.

Whether you crochet or not, you are welcomed to be part of the effort! We need people to make plarn in addition to crocheting the bags. And we’ll provide the instructions to make it as easy as we can.

Join us, and come be a plarn star 🙂

Created on Topsail Island, NC

After toting her upcycled plastic bag purses and tote bags around the community and being asked where they could be bought, Jill got an idea to partner with the local sea turtle hospital to have the bags sold to patrons and visitors.

Making a fun, feel-good craft

What’s great, is that 100% of all funds raised from the sales of these bags go directly to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. That’s right–every single penny.

We don’t take any fee or commission.
